I grew up in a distant, hilly suburb of Los Angeles. I am the oldest in a family of four children: my fathr was a research biologist and my mother is an artist in stained glass. I went and recklessly got a relatively useless degree in English Literature (California State University Northridge, 1976) and then enlisted in the US Air Force. I trained and served as a radio and television broadcast specialist, in places as various as Greece, Spain, Japan, Korea, Greenland and Ogden, Utah. This involved an assortment of interesting duties, which included midnight alt-rock DJ, TV news anchor, video-production librarian, radio and television writer and producer, production manager, and tour guide. In 1985, I drove a bright orange Volvo sedan from Athens to Zaragoza, Spain, accompanied only by a small and cranky child. I retired from the Air Force in 1997. In late 2002, I became a regular contributor to the military-oriented weblog, got hooked on writing historical fiction, bringing out "To Truckee's Trail" in 2006; that's the story of the first ever wagon-train party to bring wagons over the Sierra Nevada, which marked the opening of the California Trail. Besides historical novels, I review books and movies for Blogger News Network, am also on the board of the Independent Authors Guild, a non-profit association of writers published by small and regional publishers ... and I manage their website, also. I currently live in San Antonio with my daughter and an assortment of dogs and cats, and travel within Texas doing lectures and talks about my follow-up novel series, the Adelsverein Trilogy.

As a kid my imagination was molded by the likes of Enid Blyton and the heroes of Marvel and DC Comics. Fast forward to modern day, and it seems those books and characters had a stronger grip on me than I initially thought. Writing gives me the ability to delve into characters and worlds that would typically be closed off to me in my normal life. An Avid sports fan and music aficionado. I tend to gravitate towards anything that involves creativity. Of late photography seems to have piqued my interest also.
Sight Seeing by Kristina Woodall Sight Seeing by Kristina Woodall Feb. 22, 2012 $5.99 94248 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
My base station is, and pretty much always has been, Colorado. Living in one of the most beautiful places on Earth, Boulder (nestled on the edge of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains), my focus is on building bridges between what we believe life is all about and the mystery destination just beyond the veil. I am, like you, a spirit trekker -- always seeking to discover, explore, question, analyze, and heal the rift between flesh and spirit; illusion and truth. There is more to life than paying the bills, losing fat, getting (or not losing) our current source of employment, being politically correct, and forever striving to meet the external expectations of others; there is the inner spiritual journey to discover who we truly are, why we’re actually here, and what we really need to know and learn in order to summit to the light. EDUCATION: I began my adventures in higher education at the age of seventeen. Winning a Resident Honor’s Scholarship (one of thirty people across the nation), I spent my Senior year of High School at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. A year later, I opted to transfer to Humboldt State University in northern California. (Planting myself in the midst of tall trees, healthy skies, and open spaces, Humboldt was just what the doctor ordered for one dreadfully homesick for my native Colorado.) Four years later, in June of 1985, I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a double major in Journalism and Political Science. First published at the age of 14, winning Third Prize in the Denver Post’s State-wide Christmas Essay Writing Contest, I long possessed a passion for putting word to paper. At 17, at 2 o’clock in the morning (after a night shift at Wendy’s) I sat down and wrote an essay for San Diego’s East County Essay Writing Contest, and took First Place. At the age of 21, with my Journalism degree in hand and a passion for writing in my heart, I hurried back to Denver and obtained employment as a writer/editor for Golden Bell Press. A few years later, I became a Technical Writer for the United States Government (Bureau of Reclamation). When my contract with the government expired in 1990, the lure of the snow-capped mountains to the west of Denver was unbearable, and I moved up to Dillon, Colorado (elev. 9,800 feet!) on faith alone. The cost of my seat-of-the-pants decision to trek to higher grounds was high. With employment scarce and writing opportunities non-existent, I rode out a storm of odd jobs and inspirational (spiritual) challenges. The reward for this choice, however, was also high. Sitting on a boulder next to a lost lake in the Eaglesnest Wilderness (overlooking my new mountain home), I realized that I could now fulfill my thirst for even higher education, as well as my desire to help others traverse the highs and lows of our mutual journey on this planet. In 1993, at the age of 30, I went back to school to obtain my Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Regis University in Denver. Building my own psychotherapy practice in Dillon, I sound found that traditional therapy lacked the equipment and traveling tools necessary to reach the depths of truth that existed deep within mind and emotion, body and feeling. Tired of talking around and around in circles, I went back and trained at the Transpersonal Hypnotherapy Institute (THI) in Boulder, Colorado and became a Certified Transpersonal Clinical Hypnotherapist and a Certified Transpersonal Medical Hypnotherapist. (Transpersonal hypnotherapy is a natural extension of Transpersonal Psychology, the fourth wave of psychology which recognizes the spiritual potential of human beings.) My areas of expertise included transpersonal journeywork (emotional healing; working with the unconscious mind; mind/body therapeutic practices; and ego strengthening); Jungian complexes and archetypes (working with archetypes in a transpersonal context; developing inner resources; and archetypal guidework); retrieval work (hypnotic regression therapy; healing early childhood trauma; abreaction/reframing; working with introjected parent figures; and inner child work); shadow work (Jungian dreamwork and active imagination); sub-personality therapy; resistance and problem solving strategies; phobias, weight management, smoking cessation, pain/disease management, work therapy; pre- and post-op therapy; hypnodontics, allergies, and natural childbirth. In 2004, I moved to Boulder and became an Intuitive Life Coach (helping clients build a complete physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual tool chest that would enable them to weather the storms of the passage on this planet and climb to the heights of their wildest dreams). Becoming an Intuitive Life Coach, I found that I could reach out to people around the country who seek to become fully functioning, happy, healthy, adults able to meet challenges, endure the highs and lows with joy, and build the endurance necessary to reach the destination of their choice. In addition, pulling my passion for creative writing off the back-burner, I have now completed two novels: Dance for the Rain (about a young woman overcoming her fear of change and finding passion in the turmoil that is life) and Sight Seeing (the first in a series of paranormal suspense novels about a reluctant psychic/hypnotherapist who fights to protect the mountains behind her Colorado mountain town). Enjoying my journey and trusting my knowing, I now spend my time working with clients as their personal Intuitive Life Coach, working on my next novel (Ghost Time, which is about a woman who must face the sins of her past -- past life, that is -- in order to find healing and forgiveness in this lifetime, before it’s too late yet again…); spirit trekking up and down and around and beyond the illusory mountains of this life’s journey with all of my fellow spirit trekkers, and physically trekking up and down and around the very real, and very tall, mountains that hold up the Colorado sky.

MMM... I was born in a tiny town in the wild mountains of Colorado. After about a year and a half the parents moved themselves and me to New Jersey where I grew up. As a child I threw the coolest slumber parties ever, sadly my party throwing skills seemed to have peaked then. Now I'm more like a Mary Richards when it comes to throwing parties. I loved Nick at Nite (as if you couldn't have guessed from that last reference), and I have always loved soap operas. Every day on twitter you will find me tweeting about One Life to Live, for sure. Sometimes I will tweet and blog about other soaps. It all depends on how I feel that day and what makes me happy and what makes me angry. I attended Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado and it was an amazing experience. I had amazing friends during my time at the Fort and while living in Durango. I now live in a small town in Minnesota, where I am trying to adapt to the weather (I have not had an easy time thus far), and the humidity. My first book being released is Secret Fantasy, when its available I will have all that information for you. I have spent years working on a web serial called Divisions which is still on the web and available to be read for free if you are interested.

I got a serious case of the word flu when I was asked to write an article for my high school newspaper. It was a disease from which I have yet to recover. In the intervening years, my work has appeared in daily newspapers, monthly magazines, extensively on radio -- and the occasional dalliance with television. I have a bucket filled with awards sitting in my garage and continue to write, write and write. I have created advertising copy and written radio commercials. Also featuring my byline are the novel "News on the Home Front," the children's book "Mama Cat," several short plays, several radio plays, and too many unpublished novels. I am currently collaborating on a history of melamine plastic.

Welcome to my world. Do not be frightened with what you find; although everything here is alive, if only in my mind. Would you like to glimpse the shadows inside and experience what haunts my midnight hollows? Please, allow me to share my tales. Let me tease the very ends of your nerves. Let me drip chilling indulgence over your flesh. Let me bring you into my sultry and delicious world. Allow me to breathe something beautiful into your mind. Perhaps saving you from a spell of boredom, perhaps slaying the sucking monotony that rules your life. Perhaps it will feel a little like being infected. Nevertheless, please, come take a journey with me. One breath at a time, allow me to titillate your senses, to arouse your suspicions and tickle your fancy, and thereby, afford me some stroking of my own. After all, why do any of this if not to receive some whimsical pleasures, no? Freeing my living demons by exposing them to you simply feels good. But are they real, these tales, these stories? Well, what IS real? If reality begins with perception, and you allow me to enter you, if you let me slither inside your mind, exposing all of my wooded and moldering lot, then, just per chance you will begin to share in a portion of what is real in me, you will perceive me and what sleeps inside my head, the truth of my world will latch on, sinking teeth, thereby making everything you find here come alive. Making it all Real. You do not necessarily have to believe to take the journey, just open your mind to me, just take a sip, savor the taste. For, I intuit the realization and truth and understanding will seep in, soon enough, drop by salty-sweet drop. Let me say Welcome, friends. Welcome to where it all begins, where everything that is real and of consequence takes place, where evil drops its lurker’s veil, where death births something fascinating and new, where lovers are found and something wicked hides. Welcome to the quaint town of Bristleburg. Nestled against the lovely Blue Ridge mountains, laying within the Shenandoah Valley, a quintessential slice of historic Virginia. Rich in history and lush in blood and lust and pain and glory. It may be sick, convoluted, scary, horrific and twisted, but it is real and completely beautiful. Walk with me. Come. jKb

We later moved to a nice middle-class neighborhood in another smaller town with mostly friendly people and a nice, quiet atmosphere. I have one brother and one sister, both younger than myself. I skipped two grades in middle school, after repeatedly testing far above average on assessment tests administered by both the elementary school I had gone to and the middle school I was attending at the time. My mentor and good friend Talmadge Darden took time out to make sure I was doing well, and to drive me to the high school for afternoon classes. After I graduated high school, I enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where I served for only a year before being discharged, honorably, for medical reasons. I had begun training as a cryptologic linguist at the Defense Language Institute's Foreign Language Center, in Monterey, California, where I studied Hebrew. I've held a number of jobs and lived a number of different places. I've been a cashier, a food server, a factory worker, a casino dealer, and a salesman, among other things. I've lived in Virginia, Arkansas, California, Utah, Nevada, and even Texas. These different jobs and environments have given me a lot of experience in life and a number of different perspectives on the world. I've only been out of the country once, though. I visited Amsterdam, in Holland, in 2006. I had a great time, there were beautiful buildings everywhere, and the people were very hospitable and friendly. I hope to go back someday. My hobbies include writing, gaming, enjoying good television shows, and reading good writing. I have made many friends and met many interesting people during my journey through life. I hope to meet many more people that I can call my friends, and I hope to share my writing and visions with the world.

Malgraŭ ĵurnalisma sperto, i.a. kiel redaktoro de Germana Esperantisto (1910-1914), li verkis nur unu romanon: tiun ĉi romanon pri krimo. La unua krim-romano en la historio de la originala Esperanto-literaturo, unue publikigita en 1920, kaj nun lingve iomete prilaborita por nia eldono de 2008. Fascina historio pri murdo kaj amrilato...

Come. jKb

Fruit of the Secret God / the dark erotic images of Santerineross by john santerineross Fruit of the Secret God / the dark erotic images of Santerineross by john santerineross Feb. 22, 2012 $11.99 2608 words Sample 5%
Author bio:
John Santerineross is an artist who does not like to be classified or categorized. He prefers to let the viewer decide and define. He was named "the world's leading neo-symbolist photographer of our time" in the December 2007 issue of PROFIFOTO, Germanys leading photography magazine. His unique style and content have inspired an entire new generation of artists. His complex aesthetic is derived from a mix of his exposure to Catholicism and Santeria and by his fascination with Greek mythology, world religions and iconography. John Santerineross' first book, Fruit of the Secret God, introduced his powerful images to the world in 1999. His second monograph entitled Dream, was published in October of 2004. This commanding book is considered by many to be the definitive example of contemporary neo symbolist photography. It is an exploration of John's dream imagery and iconography through the use of the photographic medium. John never elucidates his imagery for fear of limiting viewers’ personal interpretation. He is influenced by the early symbolists’ belief that “the creation of a mood is as important as the transmission of information, (it must also) seek to engage the entire mind and personality of the viewer by appealing to the viewer’s emotions and unconscious mind, as well as to their intellect”. Throughout John’s artistic career, his refusal to be limited by any one medium has lead him to master multiple artistic disciplines; he has been a ceramist, sculptor, painter, and mixed media artist. He has recently delved into the world of moving images and has already directed several short art films including “Child, Doll or Bone” which captures the beauty and intimacy of a cutter’s compulsion and “Destin”, the story of a young girl questioning her ability to avoid her tragic fate. At this very moment, Santerineross is in the preproduction phase of a powerful, warped tale of a doll maker entitled “Ningyoushi”. Santerineross’ uncompromising integrity, ethics and belief in freedom of expression continues to show even now through his avant-garde photographic images and films. Unlike many of John’s contemporaries, his use of digital manipulation is extremely limited. 95% of what you see in the photograph was on the set that day. All blurs or distortions are created by either the model moving at his instruction or objects that are moving in the set by means of a variety of intricate motors, wires and mobiles. Due to the complexity of his images, John only shoots approximately 12 images a year, which makes every one of them extremely significant and personal. It is his commitment, integrity, passion and dedication that cause many admirers to consider him to be one of the most influential image-makers of this generation.
